The short answer
Confirm the property’s municipality before using a permit checklist. Port Chester, Rye Brook and Purchase are being considered as Generator Care expands, but coverage is not yet guaranteed and their project-review starting points are not interchangeable. Purchase properties should start with the Town/Village of Harrison’s building-department guidance.
General guidance, not installation, repair, engineering or legal instructions. Confirm equipment-specific and current local requirements with the appropriate professional.
Port Chester: begin with building applications
The Village of Port Chester maintains an official building-application directory. Ask the responsible contractor which building, electrical, fuel-related or other submissions apply to your particular scope. Use the directory as a starting point, not as proof that downloading one form completes the project’s review.
Rye Brook: check the standby-generator requirements
Rye Brook’s published code addresses permanent standby generators and their installation approvals. Have the project team review the applicable provisions with the village for your property and proposed work. Do not transfer a setback or screening assumption from an installation across the municipal boundary.
Purchase: coordinate with Harrison
Harrison publishes generator-permit instructions addressing site documentation and related project information. Ask which current documents and trade permits apply before approving a final scope. Across all three communities, make one person responsible for coordinating application questions so fuel, electrical and site work do not proceed on conflicting assumptions.
Put it into practice
Bring to a Westchester project consultation
- The complete service address and confirmed municipality.
- An available survey and the proposed generator location.
- Existing fuel provider and known property restrictions.
- A named person responsible for applications, follow-up and records.
Can the same design be repeated from a nearby property?
It may provide useful context, but it is not an approval for your site. Equipment, lot conditions, fuel arrangements and the reviewing municipality can differ. Ask for a property-specific assessment and current confirmation from the relevant authority.
