Start with what must stay on

List the systems you want to support during an outage. Refrigeration, sump pumps, heating controls and selected lighting may be your priorities. A broader backup plan may also include air conditioning, cooking and other high-demand equipment. Commercial properties need a separate discussion of operations and critical loads.

Running demand is only part of the picture

Some motor-driven equipment needs additional power when starting. A practical assessment must account for this demand as well as equipment that may operate together. Unknown loads should be investigated rather than treated as zero.

Use an estimate to prepare—not to purchase

Our estimator helps organize an initial conversation. A technician must verify electrical loads, motor starting requirements, fuel supply, load-management options and site conditions before recommending the final equipment.
