The short answer
Share the Kohler model information you have, the property address, service history and a clear description of the request. Include transfer-equipment records when available. The team will confirm whether the request fits its current service scope before arranging a visit.
General guidance, not installation, repair, engineering or legal instructions. Confirm equipment-specific and current local requirements with the appropriate professional.
Describe the installed system
A brand name is a starting point, not the full equipment record. Locate the generator and transfer-switch details in your existing documents. Mention whether the installation serves a home, business or another property use, and whether the original operating plan has changed since installation.
Explain the history you actually know
Bring dated service reports and unresolved recommendations. If you recently bought the property, be explicit about missing records rather than assuming the generator was maintained. Mention prolonged outage use since the last visit and any new behavior. A baseline inspection may be a more useful first step than assuming only routine work is due.
Use monitoring as supporting information
If you use the Kohler Energy Management app, name the app in your request and include the message and its time. Pair that observation with the generator and transfer-switch model records you already have. Ask which connected features and provider-access arrangements apply to your equipment; an app account does not itself establish a service agreement or dispatch.
Put it into practice
Your Kohler service request
- Known generator and transfer-switch models.
- Residential or commercial use and the reason for the visit.
- Last service, extended runtime and any incomplete history.
- Alert details, access arrangements and a reachable decision-maker.
Will a routine service appointment include repairs?
Confirm the scope before the visit. Routine maintenance, diagnostic work and corrective repairs are different tasks and may require separate authorization or parts. Describing a known problem early helps the provider plan appropriately.
