Business & storm readiness

What to expect when requesting generator help during a storm

The short answer

Generator Care’s storm response depends on prior service history, availability, weather and safe access. A request does not guarantee an arrival time or immediate repair. For a fire, suspected fuel leak, carbon monoxide alarm or other immediate danger, move to safety and call emergency services.

General guidance, not installation, repair, engineering or legal instructions. Confirm equipment-specific and current local requirements with the appropriate professional.

Give a clear picture of the situation

Provide the service address, a reachable contact, whether utility power is out and what the generator is doing. Describe essential systems affected without guessing at a diagnosis. Include known equipment details, visible alert wording and any access obstacles, but only gather observations from a safe location.

Understand what still needs confirmation

The team must assess coverage, the requested work and scheduling conditions. Storm damage, blocked roads and safe working conditions can change the response plan. Regular hours are 9 a.m.–5 p.m., with additional hours by arrangement; that is not a statement of continuous emergency dispatch or a guaranteed service window.

Prepare a fallback before you need one

Maintain a household or business plan for a generator that cannot operate, fuel interruptions or a prolonged outage. If essential medical equipment is involved, arrange the contingency plan with the equipment provider and care team in advance. Do not make an unconfirmed technician arrival the only safeguard for someone’s immediate needs.

Put it into practice

Include in an urgent service inquiry

  • Address, contact and whether the property is safe to access.
  • Utility status and the generator’s observed behavior.
  • Exact alert information available without approaching a hazard.
  • Prior service history and the essential functions affected.

Does submitting the website form dispatch someone?

No. Submitting the website form does not dispatch a technician or confirm an appointment. The team reviews requests and follows up to confirm the next step. Email and website requests are not substitutes for emergency services.
